Door County Bride-To-Be — Second Shower

May 1st, 2013 by Jackie - 0 Comments - Leave a Comment

Hi! This past weekend, my Aunt Jean hosted my second wedding shower, mostly for family and a few close friends who couldn’t attend the first one. We had such fun!

Way back in January, I blogged about going to Olive Garden for lunch with my aunt and cousins to talk about wedding “stuff.” During that lunch, when I was feeling low about not being able to have a massive wedding extravaganza, Jean and co. brought me out of the dull drums by getting me to focus on the wedding shower they were planning for me–what kind of food, what kind of theme, etc. At the time, I mentioned “The Great Gatsby” as one of my wedding inspirations, and that I loved small plates/bite-sized meals.

Well. These ladies created a beautiful spread, with tiny desserts, tarts, punch and beautiful white hydrangeas in clear vases, decorated with white pearls. If that weren’t enough, Aunt Jean even cranked up her Edison victrola and played a few songs, just to set the mood. We chatted, played a party game (Jean knows I’m not a big fan ;) that actually turned out to be really fun and enjoyed each others’ company.

And I don’t have any pictures. Why? Because I wasn’t taking any. Isn’t that the way it goes? My cousin is sending some, which I’ll post when I get them.

Oooh! We also bought our wedding rings. Those will stay top secret until the wedding pictures are posted, but let’s just say I solved my dilemma in a big way :)
