Have you ever wondered if you’d find love on the internet? 40 million people have tried online dating, but Facebook has been blamed for wrecking marriages. Not so in this case! Jess and Adam reconnected after being raised together in Door County and came back for a beautiful Cave Point engagement session shot by Kasey Hock.
Engagement Story … Adam joined the United States Air Force after earning his degree at UW-Oshkosh, and his first assignment was outside Washington, D.C. When Jess graduated from UW-Whitewater and found a job with a national accounting firm, she followed her childhood dreams and moved to Maryland where her aunt and uncle lived. No one ever guessed that these two Southern Door High School graduates would reconnect on Facebook through a simple status update and start new lives together – in Maryland – 1,000 miles from home.
Raised in Southern Door County, both Jess and Adam learned the value of hard work, appreciated music, loved family, and cherished a friendly smile and greeting from everyone around. They shared but one simple thing in high school – Beat 57 Show Choir. Adam was a bass player in the band and Jess sang and danced. They had mutual friends and knew of each other, but only once ran into each other outside of school, after they were both graduated. (After they had been dating, Adam told Jess he was at her high school graduation party! Who knew!?)
When Jess and Adam started dating in Maryland, Jess was just starting her career and Adam was active duty in the military, back in school, following his dreams. After a year or so of dating, his program transferred him to Dayton, Ohio. Shortly after Adam’s graduation, over a year later and three years into dating, Jess joined him. Adam privately proposed at home with a candle lit table, homemade dinner and wine on Jess’ birthday. (All a big surprise to Jess as she had invited her best friend from Milwaukee, who was there for the weekend.)
Together, Adam and Jess are intellectual, driven, and organized. They complement each other’s personalities and share in the little things in life. They appreciate a tasty brew, a campfire on a cool night, Wisconsin hospitality and friendliness, a ride through the countryside on their motorcycle, a good movie or TV series, fun road trips, and definitely time with family and friends. Both are very crafty as well – whether that means working on vehicles, DIY projects around the house, building computers, cooking and baking up a storm in the kitchen or just playing around to see what they can dream up.
