Door County Bride-To-Be — Accidental Weight Loss

So, my good friend Tara gave me a giant bag of M&M’s for my birthday in April. I finally asked one of my coworkers to take it from me a few weeks ago — I just couldn’t stop eating them. I’ve also really started to eat better (zero bread) and have been able to get outside with the nicer weather. I’m feeling good, have lost a few pounds, but nothing major.  Nothing I thought was major until yesterday at a dress fitting. I accidentally lost weight in, ahem, my bust (but also my stomach!).

Oops.

Elsa, my seamstress and friend, arched her eyebrows.

“You lost weight! Knock it off!” She’d just finished the painstaking task of removing the pearls that decorate the bodice, taking in the material and then re-attaching the pearls. Now she’d have to do it again.

“Can’t I just get a better bra?” I asked.

“No. You’ll have a shelf,” she replied, gesturing with her hands what an odd shape a strapless gel bra two sizes too large for me would make under the dress. “Plus, it’ll be wide open for everyone to see.”

Lesson learned: Try to time the final fitting as close as possible to the wedding.
