Door County Bride-To-Be — My First Wedding DIY Project

I certainly do not consider myself to be a crafty person and DIY projects/crafts are new to me. I am however very excited about my DIY project for the place card holders for our wedding. As I was surfing the web for wedding ideas I ran across wine cork placecard hold and thought it would be perfect for my wedding.

I found a site that offered the wine cork placecard holders for sale, but I thought it would be fun to have a mix of different corks from different places, people and wines. I was also excited to be able to repurpose a product in our wedding. After I found this idea I started asking family, friends and coworkers to save their wine corks and I’ve been collecting them since. I am currently about ready to cut the bottoms off and make the slit in the top for the placecard. My fiancé is even going to let me use his power tools to create these. I am hoping the finished product will look similar to the ones in this picture:
