From the Bride … Ryan and I met through a mutual friend. It was at a friends birthday party, where I decided to steal him away to go to another party. With the help of his brother and my friends we tricked him into coming along with us. We hit off right away and ended up talking the rest of the night. He asked me a few nights later and thus our love begins. We dated for about 8 months when he took me to a special place where he proposed and of course I said “yes”!

We immediately went to work starting to plan our special day. Our first thought was to have a destination wedding on some island. After great consideration from friends and family, we decided to that could not be an option so we began to plan a destination one in Wisconsin. Ryan’s parents suggested Door County since they come to area often and have always enjoyed the beauty of it. I began to explore locations and Stone Harbor got my attention. We came to visit and fell in love with the beauty of it and felt is just like the place a destination wedding within our state should be.

Stone Harbor not only was accommodating with their services but provided us with lists of photographers, florists, DJ’s and anything we needed. July of 2011 was our set date with Stone Harbor so off we went to look and book the rest of our plans. North Water Bakery and Deli was our cake place and let me tell you they made the most delicious cake ever. They provided us with a day of tasting so that our selection was personal.

Sturgeon Bay Florist designed flowers for our outside arc as well as the bouquets for our attendants-fresh for everyone. We provided the color of the dresses and they did the rest. They even put rose pedals down the aisle for me to walk through which added an extra touch.

Kelly Avenson from Avenson Photography captured our every moment. We met her in May so that she got to know us and to take some engagement pictures. She took to us to a special beach with white sand just like the beaches that would have been in our destination location. It was magical! The day of the wedding she took a ton of pictures of me the bride outside prior to the ceremony — both alone, with my mother and my attendants. Then after the ceremony she continued to do a lot of the outdoor pictures. We had a ton of great pictures!

We chose Rev. Joan Shiels to marry us. We shared many emails and phone calls over the course of planning. I knew from talking with her that she would make our day special and make it about us. We met her in person 2 days prior to the wedding to finalize all the details. She had some great ideas.

The wedding party as well as many guests jumped aboard The Harbor Lady after Friday night rehearsal for a cruise as well as a delicious fish dinner, the scenery was breathtaking and made for a memorable experience.

The day had finally arrived with home made breakfast from my father. Then it was off to get our hair and make-up done by Bespoken Salon & Spa in Cedarburg, WI. They made the trip! Photos with Kelly prior to the ceremony. Then the moment I had been waiting for — the music playing by the String Quartet of Wisconsin, parents at my side the walk down the aisle begins with rose petals under my feet I felt like I was floating toward the man of my dreams-the weather even though warm had not reached hot yet and the sun out just enough to help make the day perfect.

Joan as promised provided an intimate ceremony using the pouring of sand in 2 different colors to interwine our lives. She captured many precious moments of our lives with that pouring of the sand without knowing us that well. It was a beautiful ceremony with tears and laughter.

We concluded our day with a delicious meal by Stone Harbor and dancing the night away with Action DJ from Green Bay.

Our day was very special to us and Stone Harbor helped in so many ways that we cannot thank them enough. Our family and friends are still talking about the wonderful time they had and was a great, wonderful wedding/ceremony it was. They can not say enough about Stone Harbor. It truly is a great place for a wedding.
